Shipping Assistant

Bagley Downs Neighborhood, Vancouver, WA

I’m looking for a packer for my growing ceramics business of 5 years, owned by my husband and me. I sell via e-commerce, wholesale and retail. I’m trying to shorten my lead time so I need some help with shipping. You’ll be working with me in my studio in my 3rd floor apartment. Preferably you have an interest in pottery or handmade goods. You must be comfortable using your hands and arms and standing for a while. We use kraft paper and cardboard rather than bubble wrap or styrofoam, so the job can dry out your hands. If it goes well, I’ll be open to further assistance with production and more hours.

Job Duties:

  • Prepare boxes from 6x6x6” to 20x16x15”, ranging from 3 larger to 10 smaller boxes or a mix of both. All shipping supplies and tools provided.

  • Line with cardboard, crumple paper for a base, cut appropriate sized paper for wrapping pottery

  • Wrap pottery, place it in the box, divide it with cardboard, stuff paper around the edges

    • Put cardboard on top if there’s to be a second layer, repeat above steps

  • Set crumpled paper on pottery, put packing slip in box

  • Fold and cut down to size where needed, put cardboard on top of paper, close box and tape shut.

  • Take and write down weight, LxWxH, and name of client on the box
